OK. I don’t understand why there are so many bad reviews for this shop. I’ve had two lenses and one canon video camera repaired here. The two lenses were a 70 to 200 EF mount 2.8 and an 85 mm f1.2 lens. All Canon. They’ve done an excellent job on repairing these lenses for me. And also did an excellent job on the C100 mark two video camera they repaired for me. The work has been efficient, timely, and I’ve never had to bring any Repair back to fix any problem. I think that a lot of people may have a problem with an increased price after diagnosis, but I think that’s expected with camera repair. But as far as the work goes, they are very reliable and I’m very happy with using them for my Canon cameras and lenses. I hope this helps. Best of luck and thank you for your service. I brought my flash in for a diagnostic. We initially agreed that the inspection would cost $25, and after that I would be informed about the repair cost.

When I returned, I was told that the flash had already been repaired and that the cost would be $120. I explained that I bought it for $100 and showed that the same model was selling on eBay for $80. After that, they agreed to charge me $50 and returned the flash to me as if it had been repaired.

When I tested it at home, it did not work at all — exactly the same issue as before. In reality, the flash was not repaired despite the payment.

I do not recommend this service.

DO NOT EVER SEND YOUR CAMERA HERE. Sent my camera here in early 2025 through mail since i don’t have repair shops in my city. Paid them beforehand. They never updated me. I had to send them a message in december asking what is going on they said they couldn’t locate the parts and will send it back to me along with a refund. A month later and no update, no confirmation number nothing. I won’t be surprised if I never get to see my camera again. If I don’t receive a response, I will be moving forward with a dispute/complaint through my payment method and consumer protection options.

They did a perfect job cleaning and recalibrating my camcorder. Then when I had some follow up issues, the walked me through settings over the phone. I will use them again and recommend them to everyone!

I paid nearly $400 to have a Canon lens repaired. It worked for one outing. The next time I used the lens it stopped working almost immediately (while I was on vacation). Since it was longer than 3 months from the repair, they would not do the honorable thing and fix the lens.

Also, when I sent my lens in for repair, I used the lens's original foam packaging from Canon. I specifically asked that the foam packaging be returned with the lens, but they ignored that.

I sent my Canon G7X Mark III to them in October 2024. I paid $412.26 for the repair, but the camera came back in the same condition. I contacted them again and told them that I couldn’t even turn the camera on. They told me to send it back. I sent it again and kept calling and emailing them, but they were not answering. After a few months, I called again and they said they had shipped it back to me, but that it was returned to them — which was not true. They told me to call back so they could check their storage, but they kept giving me the same answer. Until now, I have been calling with no response. Please do not send your camera there if you don’t want to waste your money.

I have sent my camera back 3 times for repair. It's been 3 years since the last update. Now they say the business has been sold and new owners don't know where my camera is. Rip off! They were paid to fix my camera now it's missing. Great way to run a business! Not!

Sent my Canon camera to them, after reading the ad I thought it was Canons repair center but it isn't. I read the reviews after sending my camera to them and thought I made a mistake.. , they answered all emails, told me what was going on with the camera and parts. Prices were reasonable and the work was fairly fast. Got my camera back in about a month and it is working great.Then check it further I found that the functions Clean now and auto clean for the sensor does not .work any more. So now I either send it back in for repairs which is more money or use as is or trade it for a different camera. I will not use them again. I believe the auto clean function is turn enabled by factory specs. so I believe he seen there was a problem with it after he worked on my camera and went in and disabled it instead of repairing it. I don't know where he gets his parts but they no good .He now tells me the mother board may be damaged causing the auto clean not to work. He also said the sensor had a flaw, both was working just fine; all it really needed was a low pass filter but I trusted him and his knowledge of cameras . I gave him 4 stars just because he didn't tell me any of this before or try to fix it. He installed a new sensor assembly not the mother board. I talked to another camera tech and he said that the mother board was good, it was a faulty sensor assemble that he installed that caused the problem.

During our honeymoon in Sri Lanka, I accidentally broke my Canon G7x camera. I started to panic, wondering who would fix it as I was aware it was not discontinued and the price had been rising due to social media trends.

Thankfully, my husband immediately googled CamCorder Repair Center and received confirmation right away that they could fix it and also replace the lens, as they had the spare parts, which they would outsource.

They advised me to post it to the US, which I did when I arrived home in the UK. The process was very easy, and they always provided reassurance regarding the stage of the repair.

They also provided a tracker showing where the package was when the item was repaired and dispatched, which gave me a sigh of relief.

When I received my camera, it looked brand new.

I would highly recommend them for any camera repair. Even though they are overseas for us, I would still recommend them to UK customers, as their prices were comparable to the quotes I received from stores in London.

If I could rate this business negative stars I would - they literally stole my camera and ghosted me!!!! What a nightmare. Please read the other reviews of this place and save yourself from getting ripped off. This place is the definition of a scam. Look at the other reviews!

I bought a Canon 1DX with 800,000 clicks on the shutter on Ebay. I got a quote from Camcorder Repair Center for replacing the shutter as well as the 3.2 inch LCD display and sent the camera in. After looking over my 1DX the company sent me a message stating that the "Shutter Charging Unit" also needed to be replaced which was fine by me. Again we're talking about 800,000 clicks. After looking up what a shutter charging unit does, I approved the service. My 1DX arrived on 7/15/2025 and the 1DX was thoroughly wrapped in bubble wrap.

Now then, a camera is like a car when it comes to mechanical estimates. You might get a quote for an automotive tune-up and then when the technicians get to check you car in person, some other items might come up that was not part of the original quote.

I saw the negative reviews here, so why did I still use this company? Because I have seen negative reviews at doctor's offices and then also saw reviews saying that the practise must have hired new staff because the former issues were resolved.

Lastly a suggestion for fellow photographers. You should always have a back-up body. While my 1DX was being overhauled, I had a Canon 5D Mark iii in a camera bag. Glad I decided not to sell my 5D Mark iii and keep it as a second camera.

I'm not sure what issues other people are talking about, I had a relatively good experience with getting my Canon T7i fixed.

The only "issue" I had was the repair cost was twice what I was quoted but the original quote was online so they didn't have it in hand. They gave me a decent discount which I really appreciated.

Also, they said it was meticulously cleaned but there was still dust in the viewfinder but that was a preexisting issue that I didn't report so I'm not upset about it.

I shipped it to them from the North State without issues. They were very responsive in messages and I got it back after a couple weeks (had to wait for replacement parts). My camera came back safely packaged, in working order and had a warranty for the work.

If I have another issue with a camera, I'll likely send it to them again.

STAY AWAY IF YOU VALUE YOUR LENS AND CAMERA. PLEASE LEARN FROM MY HORRIBLE MISTAKE AND SENT THIS ONLY TO CANON. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, THIS COMPANY IS A COMPLETE JOKE.

1000k to fix my 100-400 with multiple send-backs, with months long wait in-between and the lens STILL doesn't work right. Going to have to ditch it and buy a 100-500. That 1000k could have gone towards it, or I could have coughed up the 850 Canon quoted me and had it fixed right the first time.

*this company CAN'T EVEN KEEP THEIR RECORDS STRAIGHT. The original repair was done in June of 2024, I got it back in July of 2024. By September it was apparent that the lens WAS NOT FOCUSING RIGHT, and one of my sharpest lenses become the absolute softest. I sent it back in October and they kept it until the end of January due to "needing parts from Japan". Turns out, they shipped it back with so little packing the IS was damaged. Since it was sent back in October, and it was a different issue they refused to honor any kind of warranty, and I had to shell out another 300 bucks. Finally got it back in February 2025, and by April the lens would NOT FOCUS in the 200-400 range. It's essentially useless now. STAY AWAY AT ALL COST

I would not recommend sending a camera here. Pretty disappointed with my service from this company. 1. I was not notified when my camera arrived (as they said they would do). I had to call and verify it made it and was told "we'll email you in a few hours." It's almost as if I had to remind them to look at my camera. 2. My total bill was DOUBLE what I was quoted. From $118 to $250. 3. When I finally got my camera back they didn't put bubble wrap around the entire camera, just the bottom. NOT secure packaging. UGH!

Let me start by saying as others have said . Had I seen the reviews I would have most likely looked elsewhere. Infact, 100% I would have gone with another business.

However, you have to anticipate that sort of thing with a business fixing 20+ year old dated equipment. You are dealing with one of the few people willing and able to fix old mini DV or hi 8 camcorders. Its custom work.

Yah, I easily spent more than what I paid for the camera on ebay.

However, it would have been a total loss had I not fixed it. After dealing with a very dishonest ebay seller. I had a semi functional Sony DSR PD150 in my hands.

The only way it would have worked is if someone fixed it.

For me that someone was going to be Camcorder repair center.

They did exactly what they said and fixed the camera. It can now record video and audio without cutout and glitches/pixelation. Saved the camera for me.

I wanted to use it to add a different feel to my videos. You cannot replicate the feel of an old camcorder with modern filters and effects. It just doesn't work.

I sent my package with mandatory signature and tracking. If you send to them it would be a good idea to do that also. That way you know it has been recieved by the technician, no second guessing. No doubts. Its hand delivered.

As far as fixing $$$$$$ lenses and modern mirrorless or DSLR or any other modern camcorder or camera.

I would say use common sense before sending. Its always preffered to send to a manufacturer.

I can say that as far as old mini DV sony camcorder repairs go. They get the job done. Is it the best price? I'm not sure. Do your own research.

But I know they held up their end of the deal. Infact, the got it done rather quickly and sent my camera back well packaged.

At the moment I can only recommend them for that sort of repair.

Also, don't expect communication to be a back and forth Facebook chat or phone tag with your girlfriend.

They will let you know at key milestones but realize they must be pretty busy.

Don't expect a tailored love letter. They are straightforward and to the point. Yet polite. (Even though some of the emails were automated.)

Also, in my experience they were quick to respond, and get the job done. Not sure about the other reviews?

Hope this helps someone come to an informed decision. Again, use common sense before you send an Uber expensive lens or camera to someone.

However, they did a great job at my classic Sony DSR PD150 Mini DV. If you have one of those. I'd say give them a shot.

I received my camera (canon 80d) working and looking brand new. They are fast effective and very responsive. Super grateful.

DO NOT HAVE ANY EQUIPMENT REPAIRED HERE Sent an ef 24-70 f2.8 L for back focus repair. Lens came back mechanically sound but with MAJOR dust inside the rear element because the repair is done in the front of the office(in plane view of customers ON A PLASTIC TABLE) and not in a clean room. NOT even an attempt is made at making a dust free environment let alone a static free one. DO NOT HAVE LENSES WORKED ON HERE

They did an excellent job repairing a lens that Canon no longer supported. They had a very quick turnaround time and the lens is working good as new now. Very happy with their services, communication and price.

I had 2 previous good experiences with them, so I didn’t see the harm in sending another lens for repair. Like most other complaints about this company is they have essentially stolen my equipment. It has been 6 months since I sent in my lens and 4 months since any update. They have ignored my last three emails and if you try to call them directly, immediately a message saying email them for updates. This is especially frustrating when you have sent in your equipment from out of state and unless you go in yourself to get your camera equipment you are SOL. This place is a scam stay away.

AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS

I sent in my Canon 1D X for repair, which took 2 months. This process was frustrating due to poor communication, which should have been a sign of things to come.

Upon receiving my repaired camera, I began to use it completely as normal. Then, while still under the Company’s Warranty Window, out of nowhere, the 1D X stopped working in exactly the same way it did before. I informed the Company and sent it in for the same repair on September 26, 2024.

Since then I have heard nothing other than:

“Your request has been received. Customer service representative will email you the repair status within 1-2 business days.”

This exact correspondence has happened 3 times already.

This company is run by scammers, please avoid them at all costs.

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!! Just like all the others…gave what seemed like a good estimate for a simple repair of a broken memory card slot pin. After I sent it in they claimed that the camera main board was bad and needed to be replaced at double the original cost (the camera worked fine with SD card, it was only the CF card slot that was broken.). When I cancelled the order they sent the camera back to me and now it doesn’t work at all. They intentionally damaged the camera to try to scam more money out of me.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CAMERA HERE My camera had a bit of a fall, as they do, and malfunctioned. I googled Sony Camera repair, and these guys came up. Their site says quick turnaround (3-5 days). I sent my camera priority overnight on 8/15/23 and they received it 8/16/23. They never communicated once about receiving it. At this point, I have no idea who has my camera. I saw that it was signed for, but that could have been some homeless person. I emailed a few times, and finally on 8/24/23 they sent an email letting me know what the issue was and the cost. So 8 days after receiving my camera they communicate. I approve the repair cost, because what else can I do this point. And on 9/1/23, they then tell me the part is back ordered. A week later on 9/8/23, they tell me the camera has been repaired. On 9/11/23, they tell me it’s ready to be shipped. On 9/18/23, I finally get my camera back. I turn it on and it all looks good. So I thought. I use my camera at a wedding and the first problem is that every time I change the batteries, the camera asks for date/time. And the 2nd issue is when I looked at the video files, the footage is upside down. How the heck does that pass their inspection??? I emailed them to tell them this and they say to ship it back to them. They don’t offer to send me a label or anything. No real apology. I emailed them back to say they should pay for overnight shipping and it’s been crickets ever since. I urge everyone to never use this company. They absolutely suck at their jobs on all aspects of their business.

I got my Digital Canon Camera body wet, as indicated by the wet battery indicator, which stayed on even when I replaced the old battery with a dry battery. I approached the Camera Repair Center and told them about Wet Battery indicator staying on. I was provided an estimate of $112. I shipped the camera body to the repair center. On receipt, the business upped the estimate to $229.26. I stated the estimate was unacceptable and the camera body should be returned without repair. The repair center wanted me to pay another $40 or so if I wanted my camera body back, While I paid for the shipping my item to them, they refused to pay for the shipping for the return. They refused and kept the camera body. In my opinion, the business is not trustworthy and ethical, and I suggest not to deal with this Camera Repair Center (1947 West Glenoaks Blvd., Glendale, CA 91201) unless you want never to see your repair item again.

If I could rate them lower I honestly would. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE TIME AND MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE. I sent a Canon 77D last year around April 2021 for repair. They increased the amount they estimated and I still paid because I had just purchased my camera and only used it once. The website said I also had to pay for shipping to the store for repair and since the store is in the west coast and I’m located in the east coast I paid. They held my camera for over 6 months and sent it back STILL BROKEN. Within those six months I had to email and call about 10 times and deal with terrible customer service and flat out lies about how it was being fixed. They claim that they examine it prior to sending it back but I doubt they even picked it up to fix in the first place. I then sent it back and PAID FOR SHIPPING AGAIN. This time they kept it for another 3 months with no communication to me, ignoring my emails, and giving me excuses of “they can’t find the part” so I tell them to just send me back my camera and refund me my money and they say they can’t do that because they sent the camera out to Canon and all these excuses. For another 3 months I still have to call and email for more excuses and finally convinced them to send me back my camera with a full refund after threatening to sue. They send back my camera still not repaired and deduct the cost of shipping from the refund so instead of receiving the $267 I paid I received $223. I asked why they would only give me a partial refund especially after all they put me through and their website says they will pay for shipping back and the person I spoke to says the cost of shipping back is deducted because they weren’t able to fix the camera. This doesn’t even make any sense. Why am I paying for a camera you weren’t able to fix? I just gave up on dealing with them overall and plan to report the company to the BBB. This is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. I pray that this business doesn’t last and is shut down. They put me through so much this past year just to still receive a broken camera and a partial refund. Please save yourself the money and choose any other company but this one. The worst part is that because I paid with Zelle and not my bank directly I couldn’t even dispute the charge with my bank so I had to endure everything they did. Listen to the other negative reviews because they’re telling the truth.

I sent my Canon G7X Mark ii in to be cleaned after I was quoted $82 for "sensor cleaning, cleaning the device inside and as well as re calibrating and re-aligning it to factory specifications". After almost 6 weeks of no communication, I send a follow-up email requesting an update, and receive a response that the service is now $239.26. I declined and received the excuse that "if additional defects are discovered upon inspection, a revised estimate will be email to you", which seems to be a method of extorting more money. I stated that I did NOT request any additional service and just wanted to have the censor cleaned, which was ignored and followed up with a "discounted" estimate offer of $191 if I paid using a payment method I was uncomfortable with. I insisted that I was not asking for a repair, and asking for a cleaning, and waited over 2 weeks again with no response.

I asked for my equipment back. I was sent an invoice for $61.85, to which I responded "Before I pay for anything, I’d appreciate if the request that I have asked MULTIPLE times and not received an answer for would be answered, which is that I would like to pay for a cleaning and not a repair. I understand an inspection encountered a technical issue, but I would like to know if I am able to pay for just a sensor cleaning, which is what I sent the camera in for and was quoted the original amount for." I received the response that "We already cleaned the sensor but it didn’t solve the problem." I paid the invoice and received no confirmation of shipping, tracking number, etc and was ignored after requesting information. After receiving the camera, and attempted to turn it on, the device did not function. The lens does not retract, and a Lens Error message is displayed, causing the camera to shut down. The spinning dial that functioned originally was now jammed. My camera was returned to me damaged and completely inoperable.

I emailed: "I'd like to pursue contact on my service. I sent in my camera for a cleaning, and after weeks of communication failure and follow-up, was incessantly pushed to make "repairs" that I do NOT ask for and continually refused, despite repetitive insistence of "If additional defects are discovered upon inspection, a revised estimate will be email to you". Upon finally receiving my camera back months after sending it in, my camera now has a "Lens Error", where the lens is not properly functioning and retracting. The camera does not work now at all, and was fully functional upon sending in. I will remind once again that I sent the camera in to be cleaned, as was the initial contact and request for quote. Upon refusing unnecessary services, I was still charged an insulting "inspection fee", therefore forcing me to pay to waste my time and damage my camera. I expect a follow up communication for this situation. The dial on the body of the camera does not work as well. This "repair" of my camera has been borderline negligent."

They responded: "We stand behind our services. We provide a warranty for all the equipment repaired by Camera Repair Center. If you experience problems with your item please bring it back or ship it to us and it will be fixed at no charge."

I emailed: "I would like a refund for the service I was provided and insultingly charged for. Shipment fees and "inspection" charge included. My camera was returned to me in non-working order after it was sent in for a requested (and quoted) cleaning. I will not pay for any additional services, fees, or shipping. This "warranty" has no weight after the experience I've had (that has very closely resembled an absolute scam), and the disinterest to communicate, take accountability, and rectify this, despite my repetitive frustrations and concerns, has been truly pathetic. Hopefully a follow-up will make amends, because I have so little trust that this will be resolved in my favor." I received no response to this email.

I disputed through Paypal, which was denied. This company took no accountability for their poor service and communication, and their reviews reflect that.

AFTER I sent my 16 yr. old Canon pro camera (5d Mark II) in, I saw all the negative reviews. Hmm, did I make a mistake? Took 5 weeks to get it back because, as they said, back ordered parts had to be ordered. But they fixed it, all works great and their updates, when you request them, were prompt and accurate. Price and details quoted in advance was accurate, payment was easy and not required until repair was ready to ship. Overall, no problems and I'd given them 5 stars if not for the parts delay. But that wasn't their fault. Would I use them again as Canon does not repair cameras this old? Based on this experience, yes.

I sent them a very expensive semi-pro video camera, they sent it back worse the first time, packaged incredibly poorly, with clunking sounds coming from the mechanism. This repair was many times over the original estimate. and took a very long time.

I sent it back to them so they could have a shot at repair it correctly, it's been well over 12 months, and they have stopped responding to all calls and emails.

Do not use these guys, I am down over $5000 for a camera they refuse to return.

October 31, 2024: This company will not accept my phone calls and ignore my repeated emails. They essentially stole my camera and money! Horrible people! Stay away and warn others.

I sent my Canon DSLR to them for repair in September 2023 with prepayment. After numerous delays and stalling tactics it is now April 2024. They haven’t repaired or returned my camera. It appears I’ve been scammed! I didn’t read previous reviews, my bad. My $300 loss. I've been emailing inquiries daily for updates to my repair order but no response received. Update: I spoke with Robert on May 23, 2024. He requested I send an email to cancel the repair and he would mail my camera back and refund my cost. He cited the complaint I filed with the CA Attorney General's office. Nothing happened until July 16th when I phoned again. Someone said the camera would be mailed back the next and he would send tracking info to me. On July 23, 2024 a USPS Tracking label was created but no item was shipped per the USPS Tracking. I phoned the company August 9th to inquire and they have blocked my phone calls. If you have problems you should file complaints starting with the CA Attorney General's office. These guys are crooks! Unbelieveable they can remain in business in CA. As the saying goes, There's a sucker born every minute. That's anyone who does business with these crooks! I also filed a complaint with the BBB. If enough ripped off clients file complaints maybe they will get their business license cancelled.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! My wife sent her camera lens here to get to fixed but honestly came back worse the it was before. They said to ship it back and they would fix it but It’s been well over two months and we still haven’t gotten it. Their communication is absolutely horrible and 50% of the time they just hang up on you or put you on hold and never pick the phone back up. Save your money and go somewhere else. I would rather pay more money knowing that I’m getting amazing service and a lens that works properly then to ever think about going with this so called camera repair shop again.

I do not recommend unless you live in the LA area. Sent in my Panasonic camcorder for focus unit repair. Absolute ZERO communication unless you email them, then 1 quick reply but ZERO follow up on your reply back. Unit was supposed to be done July 3 (with final testing left). When I emailed on Aug 9, it was an "Oh Right", we'll send it back today. Repair was not complete still with a focus issue. Requested a shipping return. NO reply. Finally called them and they said free ship, need to spend $25+ to ship back. Complained and they said they'd get back to me. Now it's Dec, out of warranty and they refuse to repair with full repair cost AGAIN.

Scam pricing. Got an estimate online/phone and then when I brought it in they charged $25 "inspection" fee... When it was already known what the issue was and then 2.5x the previous estimate.

Simple answer: Good result but hard to get contacted through email. Better through calling.

Process: My Sony lens cannot autofocus. I tried another camera repair store with great score, but the previous store cannot find the parts needed to repair. I was so afraid of putting my camera here based on the extremely low scoring, but surprisingly they get me lens repaired. They never respond to my email, so better to contact then through calling. The price is reasonable and is the same price as they initially told me.

I sent the lens in the mid of August and got my lens back at the end of Oct. They said they contacted me before that, but maybe their calling back number is not the same as the number i called them, so I missed it. But when i called them in Sep., they said it was not done. So I guess the repair lasts around two months.

I have to admit that if I read the reviews before I sent my camera to be fixed, i would not have... I did not read them and found them doing a google search. I can say... I am not sure what happened to anyone else but I am very happy with the camera now that I have it back. Did it take a little longer than I expected? Yes but not really as most of written and is the only reason it is not 5 stars. They did respond when I asked questions. 5 minutes after i sent? No. I do not expect that because they are a small shop and should be busy selling or fixing. They responded to every email that I sent. I am judging them from my experience only and to me as great... I have only taken a few shots after getting it back but I am very hopeful that everything is A+... One last thing... When they sent me the shipping information it was shown as being sent through USPS. I wrote back and said that I have issues with USPS and without argument they sent through UPS. I got the camera 2 days later.

Wish I had seen these reviews before I sent my camera in for repair. Original estimate of $112 to repair camera jumped to over $250 once they had the camera in their possession. In short i experienced the exact same problems every other review documents. This is a total rip off company. Do not do business with them or send them your camera.

Honestly, I was a little concerned after reading the reviews and the time it took for my Canon 70-200mm lens to be repaired. Each time that I connected them though, I received a response that day or the next. They were professional on the phone. The lens arrived a few months later, but with supply issues in the past few years, I know that parts all around can take time to receive. Overall, it was cheaper than sending to Canon, took a little longer than expected, but arrive fully repaired with no shipping fees added on to the order.

Please, please do not ever buy from this company. I sent my camera to them in April. They kept and kept it and would not respond to my calls or emails. Finally in June they said they had been waiting on a part. They shipped it out and we received it around the first of July. We gave it as a gift to our niece in another state. She turned it on twice and then it would not turn on again. The people from Camcorder Repair Center said it was probably just the batteries so a the battery was replaced and it still didn't work We sent it back to them at our expenses. They kept it until the end of August. Again no reply to our inquiries about when it would be repaired. Finally we told them to send the camera back and refund our money. They did neither but finally shipped out a different camera to our niece. She took 36 pictures and it quit working. We contacted the company and they said not to send it back that they would call and trouble shoot over the phone. They finally did and decided the camera didn't work so once again we shipped it back at our expense and here is how everything stands now. They swear that the camera was damaged on in. They did not repair our camera or refund our money and hung up on me when I was trying to talk to them about the camera. They stole my camera and performed credit card fraud. Please heed the warning and save your money and from being ripped off. Or just throw your camera in the trash, same result except you don't have to pay to do so.

Hi everyone. It really takes a lot for me to leave a negative review on a business because I run one myself and would hate to receive one. So with that I'm very lenient when it comes to online negative criticism and reviews.

However, Camera Repair isn't worth the 1 star I gave them. I would have gave them less if google allowed. After reading some of your other reviews I see there are some that are excellent. I also see reviews that are negative and I had the exact same experience.

In a nutshell, Camera repair is horrible with communication and doesn't work in a timely manner. Their website is also designed to resemble Canon's which now seems pretty scammy/sketchy.

Story: So I needed to send my 5D Mark IV for repair. Usually I head on over to canon's official site and fill out the inquiry form. I did this a few times so I know how their site looks. It just so happened that this time I went to through google to get to their page. I should have been paying attention more because it took me to the repair inquiry page of Camera Repair. It's certainly my fault that I didn't notice it was canon. Their inquiry page was very convincing with similar fonts, colors, etc. I hadn't realized it at this time though.

When I sent my camera in they received it on the 20th. I didn't receive any notifications that they were working on it or that they received it. On the 31st I called Canon to check the status because it seemed odd that they haven't communicated with me in the process. They told me they didn't receive anything from me and their was no such order number. I immediately panicked and went back to my confirmation email only to see I sent it to Camera Repair. I thought I was scammed.

So I called them the same day on the 31st and asked what was going on. They told me that they already started working on my camera and that it was almost finished. They didn't email or contact me to let me know what the issue was with my camera or anything like that. I didn't approve any repairs. They still wanted to charge me $233 for a repair I haven't approved. I declined it and they said it would take two days for them to work on it and ship it back to me.

7 days passed and still no communication from them that my camera was sent back.

I would advise everyone to not send your gear here. There is some stuff that I left out because I'm doing my best keep my feelings outside of the facts of this situation. I feel this is horrible business on their part. Every time I called I couldn't get a straight answer from them as to why they haven't performed the duties they said they would in emails and on the phone. They are very dishonest!

Do not send anything to this company! I sent my video camera to have a repair done, a month or so after sending it I was told the repair which I explained in great detail what the problem was, was told the repair price would be twice the amount. After the repair was done, I get the camera back, and guess what, it was still broken and in worse condition! So I filed a money back thing through PayPal, and they email me saying "We will repair your camera again... Second and last chance given. Over 2+ months to make a repair on my video camera. Almost impossible to reach anyone by phone. Tried email multiple times. And after a couple of months I had to threaten this company with a lawsuit if my property wasn't sent back to me, and then all of a sudden, later that day "Your property has been repaired", what a coincidence! Never send your equipment to them. Look somewhere else. Beware!!

I sent my camera in after they quoted $150 and 5-8 day turn around time. I didn't hear anything from them for over 6 weeks. I had to call and email multiple times to finally get a hold of someone. They then said it would be more like $300 to fix the exact issue that they had quoted me $150 for. I refused the service and just wanted my camera back. They then charged me almost $30 for return shipping on a pocket sized point and shoot. I still haven't gotten my camera back. Absolutely absurd.

Sent my camera (a Canon D7) from Tennessee to Glendale. Got notification that they received it 3 days later. They gave me the repair estimate (needed new sensor). I approved via e-mail. They had it fixed within the week and notified me that my camera was in the mail. When I took it out of the safely packed package I was more than pleased at the appearance of my well used D7. They must have some kind of special cleaning materials. My camera looked brand new. It also captures my shots like I just took it out of the box from the Canon factory. I sure love having my camera back and I want to thank the folks at the Repair Center for their excellence work. Thank you. Joe D.

SCAM ARTISTS! Quoted $112 estimate to fix telephoto click & occasional "lens error" message on Canon SX60HS which otherwise worked perfectly. Once they had my camera they claimed solid state logic board was defective...revised quote to $239. as they do with most of their mail order repairs. Charged $24.50 for return shipping then took 2 weeks to get camera back to me. Had my camera for 23 days. Camera worked when I sent it to them. Was inoperable when I got it back.

Don't do it. I sent in my FS7 from Texas. They charged more than double the quote they originally gave me. It took twice as long. And when I unpacked my camera they had fixed only half of what I paid for. The communication on a scale of 1-10 is about a 2. This was an incredibly awful experience considering the stress it put on me as a freelancer sending off my only full-fledged field rig.

The only time I spoke to anyone with knowledge of my camera is when I called and explained how nervous I was about the time it was taking and the lack of communication. Only then did they transfer me to a technician and my camera was back in my possession within a week. My biggest mistake was not reading all reviews 1st. Next time I will send to Sony. At least they will keep me informed and it will get fixed correctly.

I sent a Canon C300 mkii to them for evaluation and repair in March 2023. They told me the main board and fan were fried. They estimated a reasonable $600 to repair everything. I had paid upon receiving the estimate

However each month, they told me there was a delay in getting part, and then push the repair date back a month. So in April they pushed it back. In May they pushed it back another month. Then in June they told me they could not get the part. I told them I wanted a refund and the body back on June 26 2023. Here it is July 21 2023, no refund no body, I can barely get the to respond in less than 5 days time. They have promised to send it back 3 times and refund the cost of the parts they were not able to get. Still nothing.

They have zero customer service and don't seem to be able to repair much of anything. You have been warned. I should have read the reviews here before sending it in. A couple people on social media had recommended them, I trusted those recommendations. My advice, go elsewhere. It is a wonder they have even a 2 star average.

Like with any remote estimates there may be some discrepancies or misses, so be sure that all possibilities are considered.

With that said, CRC was very reasonable in our communication and very professional through the entire process. After an initial hiccup, they made the situation right and did an excellent job on my repair and cleaning of my 17mm Canon TS-E.

Before I sent my camera to these guys, they quoted me less than half of what it actually ended up costing. They sent it back and I used it once right as I got it back. A couple months went by and I went to use it again and the exact thing they repaired which was the lens release button, fell off. I contacted them, they said they would warranty it. I paid to send it to them, then they informed me they will not honor it and I owe a big bill if I want it fixed. Then they didn’t respond with anything other than sending me an invoice to pay if I wanted to get my camera back, because they wouldn’t fix it. I’ve now spent over $300 for a camera that’s worth $500 and doesn’t work. They are awful.

Although not as negative of an experience that some of these other reviews seem to have, I did not have a perfect experience with Camera Repair Center.

My item for repair was a Sony DCR-TRV530 HandyCam, which I sent on Sept. 5th from Pittsburgh, PA to California, at an estimated repair price of $145.00.

The first bump was that for the next two weeks, the company did not tell me whether or not they had received my camera, which they promise in their order document.

I filed a status update eventually, and when they responded, they informed me that they had examined the camera and increased the charge for repair to $259.60. I acquiesced on the charge, and now that I have it back in my possession, I can at least be glad that it functions well and my problems with it are solved.

TDLR: Communication is iffy. You will probably have to reach out to get promised updates. When you receive an estimate, it might only be half of what they will charge.

It's ultimately an expensive service that one should be weary of its issues before going through with.

The rating is 2-stars because I DID get my camera back with the repair eventually completed; the service was not rated higher because I experienced some of the same terrible business practices that others described in their reviews.

Based on my research beforehand, the repair should have been simple and straightforward -- the LCD image intermittently appeared upside down; at other times it was right side up. They provided a low-ball estimate ($99) to get my agreement to the work and my camera in hand. When they sent a completed cost figure, however, it was twice the estimate ($198 + tax).

The kicker was that when I checked my camera at home, I found the problem that caused me to take it in had NOT been resolved. I returned it to the shop a few days later, pointing out that they had stated in writing that the repair was made with new Canon parts, but that the same problem remained. My guess is that when they first worked on my camera, they tinkered with the mechanism, making it appear to work again, but didn't replace any parts.

My opinion is that this business is NOT ethical, honest, or competent.

Terrible experience. They quoted me one price when I submitted their form. Then when they got my lens, they emailed me that the price had doubled. When I refused the repair, they charged me for the “inspection fee”, when their email CLEARLY says, “we do not charge for repair estimate” (copied and pasted from THEIR email). I was forced to pay the estimate fee, else I would not get my lens back. Lying jerks. Do NOT do business with these people !!!

I sent my Canon 17mm Tilt/Shift Lens to this place a year or so ago for a parts replacement and realignment of the lens elements. It took 2 months, communication was awful and not long after I got the lens back I realized that it still had the focus problem. After avoiding using it and renting a lens a couple of times, I found a place in New York who sent projection chats showing what was wrong with the lens and repaired the lens to perfection in under a week. Worst company ever! These people are taking hard earned money from people and feel 0 guilt about it. Really makes you wonder how and why you would want to run a scam business that revolves around taking peoples cameras and not returning them unless they pay an outrageous fee!

If I could leave lower than one star I would. Absolutely horrible. I sent them my camera LAST Halloween for a shutter replacement, didn't see it until well after the first of the year. Then the new shutter failed before March. It's now June. I called earlier this week to complain and was told it was in their shipping department ready to go out. I got a tracking number from them which I had to demand,but it never moved. Four days later I called and was told it wasn't even actually ready, they made a bogus tracking number to shut me up. Now I'm having them send me back my NOT EVEN WORKING camera so I can send it to someone that can actually do the work..

Sent my Sony Handicam in from Iowa back on Aug 31st because it stopped playing back videos. I didn’t hear from them if they received it or not, so I emailed them and didn’t get a reply until Sept 12th (they said the received it on Sept 1st but didn’t contact me until I reached out to them, which is very odd…) and they requested money to fix it. It was much more than I thought it would be ($250) but I needed it fixed asap so I paid. The next day after paying I got an email saying it was ready to be shipped back. I asked for a tracking number but they didn’t give me one. I got it back safely and it works again!

- Overall I WON’T be using their service again because of communication and price, but they DID get it fixed.

I sent them my Canon EF400mm IS Lens after they quoted me +/-$400 saying they were familiar with issue. That quote became +$1,800 once they had lens in hand. They did NOT communicate at all and I had to chase them for weeks before they finally agreed to return my lens. One star is too many for these bandits. Don't chance sending anything to them! BTW, I eventually had the lens cleaned and repaired in Michigan for $400.00!

I had a canon r 5 repaired. It did take a while, communication was spotty, but I recevied updates. When I did get it back, I noticed an issue and contacted the shop. They sent me a return label, and repaired the item no additional charge. The camera works great. Happy with the repair

Crooks!!! I should have read the reviews on this place before sending them my camera. As I can tell this happens a lot at this place.

I sent the my camera in August 2019. They tripled the estimated price. I ask them to return the camera right away. They have kept my camera hostage for 10 months now (I still don't have it). June 2020. They ignore all my requests to send it back. I call all the time and they act like they don't know where it is.

I didn't know this has happened to many customers already. Same exact thing. I am just trying to warn others.

I sent a Canon 7D body for shutter repair. The initial estimate was $142 but this doubled to $279 after they inspected the camera. Additional repairs were needed - fine. The $279 far exceeds the camera's value, so I declined. Camera Repair Center then charged me $28.77 to return my unrepaired camera. Actual potage cost is about $11 bucks. Outrageous!!! So much for the "free estimate". Potential customers BEWARE!!

This is my reply to them after they insisted on charging me more than double the original estimate:

The estimate repair cost is $112.00 which was why I sent it to you.The lens drive unit requires replacement. Sensor Cleaning, cleaning the device inside and as well as re calibrating and re-aligning it to factory specifications. You now want more than double that amount at $239, which I view as very dishonest and would never have sent it in for repair had I known the cost was going to be that extreme.

I DO NOT authorize repair of our camera and demand that you mail it back to me postage paid. You are not authorized to work on the camera and especially not authorized to sell it without my express permission.

I should have looked before I sent it to you, but I just investigated your online reviews and found that charging double the original estimate is frequently your practice as documented by several reviewers.

I am very disappointed with your dishonest service and I will be making concerted effort to make other individuals and organizations aware of you unscrupulous business practices.

This is actually likely a scam company. Based off the repairs and complaints especially recently. There's a good chance they are keeping your parts or your camera and messing with them causing them to fail once again and having to get them repaired. I have heard nothing from this company is over a month and 0 emails or updates on if it's getting repaired. I want my lens for example returned and they are refusing to give it back or update on the status. I know they have it. I would report this company to the BBB and get this business closed cause as of right now it seems likely this is a fraudulent repair company.

Edit: It's a scam company. It's been 4 months and they been fake saying for months now they have no parts to repair my lens and keep delaying it. I don't even want it back at this point as I bought a new one 2 months ago. If you all can please please report this company to the BBB and get these guys shut down. They are a 100% scam company.

I had to get a very expensive RF lens repaired. The repair cost about $500, which was fine given the cost to replace would have been 6 times that. The repair itself took a while (almost 3 months), however I think that was likely due to supply shortages. My ONLY complaint is the difficulty in getting a response to status. They really should have a website with searchable repair status. Beyond that, they did a very good job on the repair. It was done professionally with 100% genuine parts. I would recommend them...just be prepared for some difficulty in getting responses from communication.

Story:

I've been in the filmmaking business for awhile and have done many out of warranty repairs. I was traveling through LA and needed to get a simple LCD ribbon replaced. The LCD worked perfectly, the ribbon was torn. Simple. I took it in, told them I had take it apart and knew exactly what was wrong. They said OK, $138 and will be fixed by the end of the week (I dropped it off on Monday).

I waited 3 days, no communication. Called on Wed and was told the technician would call me by the end of the day. No one called. Same thing Thursday. Friday I happened to catch one of the technicians on the phone because the customer service (HORRIBLE!) guy, Sam, was away from the phone.

I was told it would be $200 more than my original quote because they found something else wrong with the camera. The old Car Repair Shop scam. I couldn't believe it. I asked for what exactly and he wouldn't give me an answer. Broken English on their part made communication hard. I was accused of lying and tempering with the camera. Not true.I brought the camera in , in person, and told and showed them that I tempered with the camera. They said no problem. Now it's a problem. The technician got upset on the phone, started YELLING and cursing and hung up. I called back right away and went straight to voice mail. I was shocked and scared I would never see my camera again.

I got a hold of Sam the NEXT DAY and he lied and tried to justify his mistakes. NEVER taking an ounce of responsibility. He was rude throughout the entire process.

I should've been smarter. I should've looked at the other reviews where people describe a very similar experience to mine. I should've known they were a bad business based on their crummy store that's dirty, messy and just all around run own.

At the end of the day, this cost me a big job. I was stuck paying $21 to have my camera shipped back to me. I was duped. Don't let it happen to you. Give your business to people that are qualified and professional. This business is as close as to a scam as I've seen and I'm not sure how they're still open.
